Richard Shireby, G0OJF, from TSG Communications, Lincs, UK demonstrates now ovehauled Domico Convoy 1, made in Japan for Domicrest in 1981. These relatively basic set looks outwardly like a CB radio from the United States from the 1970's. Apart from the usual basic controls, the CB has Hi/Low power (4W/) in line with MPT1320 UK legislation & public address facility. Unusually, the meter lamp swaps over from the normal amber glow to a red one in transmit, reverting to the normal one back in receive. We don't often see these sets, but they also appear as the “Sun 401“. The synthesizer is based on the popular Sanyo LC7137 PLL and there are quite a few other IC's on the chassis. I can't say they are the last word in receiver performance regarding selectivity, but are certainly as sensitive as CB radios of today & no doubt work well in a vehicle mounted situation. The microphone sensitivity is quite low & has no doubt been deliberately designed that way; close talking into the microphone develops the full 2.5
