It goes without saying that this 9 piece epic band created the stepping stone for the evolution of the genre of post rock. Formed in the early 90s by Efrim Menuck, Mauro Pezzente and Mike Moya, GY!BE slowly but steadily transformed themselves into a very large group of musicians recruited from Montréal and embarked on an introspective journey through their complex orchestral arrangements and elaborate wall-of-sound, thereby cementing their place as one of the most creative bands ever known to exist in the genre. Almost every post rock fans are more than familiar with the subtle political commentary by virtue of their album and song titles and insanely lengthy track, which is why the band has arguably the biggest cult following within the realms of post rock.
