At the first days of the second world war this fort stood in the way of the German Army, and was expected by them to be an easy push over along with the other Belgian forts. The Germans were WRONG. I have rarely read a more harrowing battle log than of this fortress and its men. One of the most heroic stands of the second world war and its time for you all to to hear the story I simply wanted to read you the entire battle log as entered starting on May 10th. Before the next episodes where we go through the fort and you can see it all. Hearing the story of its battle really puts it into perspective. While Fort Eben Emael fell and the Germans rushed the borders, these men stood firm even when surrounded and cut off they refused surrender.
