Performance from Mario Costa’s Mad About Opera (1948). The effectiveness of this scene likely led to the director’s much more interesting film version of Pagliacci, again starring the inimitable Tito Gobbi. Both films are also of interest to fans of the great Italian director/cinematographer Mario Bava, as they represent some of his earlier work behind the camera.
