A slow rising X-Flare (Strong R3 Radio Blackout) was observed around AR 3664 in the southern hemisphere peaking at 05:09 UTC (May 8th). A type II radio emission with an estimated velocity of 1152 km/s was recorded. An asymmetric halo coronal mass ejection (CME) is confirmed following the event. A passage past Earth should be expected within the next 48-72 hours and it could lead to a geomagnetic storm. More to follow via once an official CME tracking model becomes available.
