Assange Backer John Pilger Dies Aged 84 John Richard Pilger, the famous Australian journalist and a vocal supporter of Julian Assange has passed away at the age of 84. On Sunday his family confirmed his death in a short statement. Pilger worked to expose human suffering caused by the West’s “imperialist“ governments through his freelance reporting, documentaries and many books, including most recently regarding Israel’s war in Gaza. “When I was last in Gaza, the Israeli air force terrorised the population by flying fast and loud and low at night,” reads a post from last month. “All children bed-wetted and had violent nightmares, said a psychologist, and were ‘damaged forever’.
