Hello, everyone! My name is Roman Borisov and I’m a founder of new sport – Bandwrestling. We are gonna show you our bandwrestling rules. We use three types of bands: thin blue - weight category up to 25 kg, medium yellow - weight category within 20-50 kg, large red - category over 50kg. The athlete, before stepping on the platform, has to go through a wet towel to eliminate the effects of static electricity between a sole and the platform in order to avoid what is called ‘magnetic levitation’. Starting position. The athletes take a stand facing each other, they put on bands from below, tighten them and show up the hands to prove they are gonna fight fair and square. Then mutually and simultaneously both athletes do closed grip. They sit down having their toes in starting line, pinky toes must be pressed on the red square. You can hold your hands from the inside as well as from the outside. After there will be a command 'not to move' , then 'ready, go', so the athletes stand up and start fighting. The goal is to get the opponent out of the field or make him or her break the rules. There are four types of winning : 1st one is so to call a flawless victory. It means the athlete steps out of the field with the whole foot, knee or a backside. If the foothold is out of the square in any direction (in front, back, from the left or from the right), the fight must be stopped and the opponent wins. 2nd kind of winning is technical one. When during the fight the athlete is loosing the band. In this way, the sportsman has no tool to keep on fighting. So, the technical win is given to my assistant Konstantin. 3rd is foul win. The athlete can have not more than two fouls all over the fight. If he or she gets two fouls, the opponent is gonna win. There are 5 kinds of fouls. Let's have a look at them. The 1st is partial. It's when the sportsman steps out of the red square not with the whole foot, but partially, he is still stable in this position and he doesn't go further. It can be step back, to the side or it can be a knee touched the crossing line. The fight is stopped. I will get a foul and we move on again from the starting position. After the command 'Don't move, ready, go' we stand up and keep on fighting. 2nd type of foul is when you have three or more footholds within your own square. For example, it can happen when you sit down, or after some fighting you touched the surface with your knee . The fight is stopped again. I will get a foul. 3rd type is holding both bands at the same moment with one hand. You can't hold it this way. If the band slips off and closed grip turns to be open, you can't fix it just like that. So, neither with your fingers, nor with the whole hand you can't grab it. 4th kind is lost contact between the band and athlete's hand. As I previously mentioned, the sportsmen can fight using closed grip or open one. But when the athlete feels tiredness in fingers, he or she wants to get closed grip back. He may put the hand through, catch it like this and take it. It often happens that the athlete drags the band on the lower arm. You can do it. But sometimes it fails and the band turns out to be on the shoulder. It names the lost contact between the band and the hand. It's forbidden. First of all, it's not safe. Besides, it's kind of cheating, which gives obvious advantage. I can easily eliminate Konstantin because of that. 5th type of foul it is passive fighting. That includes two moments. 1) If during the fighting I start behaving passively and sit down, while my opponent Konstantin keeps on standing a referee gives me a warning about being passive. So if the referee points on me and says 'warning, passive fighting' and I stand up to go on fighting it's OK, it was just a warning, not a foul. But if I ignore it, I will get a foul straight away. The fight is gonna be stopped by the whistle, the referee says 'foul, passive fighting'. 2) If after the warning I stand up and continue to fight, but within the same battle I start behaving passively again, sitting down and doing nothing, in this way I will also get a foul 'passive fighting'. One more important thing. The fight lasts 2' . If 2 minutes later nobody wins, the athletes will stand in restart position. Face to face, putting down the bands they keep starting position, and after the command 'not to move, ready, go' they start fighting with their feet glued to the mat. They are not allowed to move the feet and take them off, however the athletes can sit, stand up, pushing and pulling their arms. The athlete who is the last to take off the feet is going to win. Example, if I turn my feet around even a little bit, then I lose. You can take off your toes, but then put them back at same about heels. If I get my feet off, but then turn them a bit, that's it, I will lose. You can also turn off one leg and move on fighting standing on one foot. But in this way, it's forbidden to put it back, even to the very same place. You are gonna lose.
