In this video I cover the process of writing and producing liquid drum and bass drums. We start out with kick and snare sample layering and then move on to writing hi-hats and understanding the various articulations we can use for more expressiveness. I also cover the concept of layering live drums over our one shot based pattern to give it a more organic feel. Then we move on to mixing and processing our drums using various techniques. One of which is using clipping and limiting to reach competitive loduness levels and also using transformer / tape saturation to add nuance to our drums, then use buss compression and finally limiting to really flesh out the drums.
