Intense snowstorms have blasted parts of Central and Eastern Europe causing widespread disruption. At least three people have been killed, with Romania, Bulgaria, Moldova and Ukraine among the worst affected countries. There were widespread power outages in the region, as temperatures plummetted to -9 C (15 F). Emergency services battled against 60 mph winds, attempting to clear roads and respond to accidents. In Bulgaria, the government declared a state of emergency in response to the storm. Meanwhile, in Ukraine, blizzard conditions have effectively cut off the coastal region around Odesa from the capital Kyiv. Ukraine's Emergency Situations Ministry released this footage of ambulances and other vehicles being rescued. On the other side of the frontline, Russia has also been inundated with heavy snow.
