Transition skating from forwards to backwards is something that happens often in a game. Here are a few drills we did today at the start of practice to work on a couple of the skills involved. Triangle figure 8 big - approach the cone forward, go backwards around the cone on your back inside edge. Make any figure 8 pattern you want for about ten seconds then switch Transition figure 8 small - same drill but place the cones closer together 3 cone escape - approach the top cone, transition to backwards and make an escape turn around the bottom cone going back to the top cone through the middle 3 cone weave - transition from Forward to backwards at the middle cone, and backwards to forwards at the top and bottom cone Add a puck to all of these drills!
