When God Gave the Ten Commandments a Second Time, This Meant He Granted the Forgiveness of Sins The first Ten Commandments Moses received were broken because the Israelites worshiped the golden calf. After the Israelites realized their sins and repented, Moses came down with the second set of Ten Commandments God granted them as a sign of forgiveness.
