Alexander Rosenblatt (born July 31, 1956) is a Russian composer. Alexander Rosenblatt comes from a family of musicians in Moscow. He studied at the Moscow Conservatory with Pavel Messner and Karen Khachaturian in 1975 to 1982. While still a student, he worked with jazz and wrote his musicological thesis on American piano jazz. From 1983 to 1990, he taught at the Gnessin Academy of Music in Moscow, then he worked as a freelance pianist and composer in Moscow. Rosenblatt concerted solo and also in piano duo with Oleg Sinkin and Nikolai Tokarev, and also played jazz . Rosenblatt has written several compositions for solo instruments and symphony orchestra (violin, horn, piano, oboe, cello), a sextet for winds and piano, and a cantata for mixed choir and brass quintet. Furthermore, numerous piano works, including three piano sonatas, the ballet music “Alice in Wonderland“ for symphony orchestra, several variations on themes by Chopin, Paganini, and Bizet for piano, songs and choral compositions, and “Jaroslav Mudrij“ (“Yaroslav the Wise“) for symphony orchestra, mixed choir, boys' choir and soloists.
