A 65-year-old woman who had undergone colonoscopy with removal of polyps became unresponsive at the end of the procedure. The abdomen was massively distended, tympanitic, and tender to palpation. The patient underwent a decompressive laparotomy. PCI is known to relieve angina in patients with stable ischemic heart disease, but does it prolong survival?
