Velvet Meadow kicks off the new year with the new single “Slow Down“ released Jan 12th 2024. Wanting to bring a new take on the groovy 60s psychedelic surf pop sound, Kris Heironimus dove deeply into crazy guitar tones, uncommercial production techniques, and as well listening to his favorite classic/new artists for inspiration such as The Beatles, Beach Boys, Babe Rainbow, and King Gizzard and the Wizard Lizard. This track was really his first recorded song kicking off the new upcoming album “Never Want To Leave My Head“. Everything helps immensely with the algorithms! “I am insanely excited to get these tracks out finally. Ive been sitting on them for too long. Slow Down was recorded from one of my spontaneous writing sessions. I woke up one Sunday morning in 2022, got some gasoline coffee, and started feeding my computer with sounds. I wrote 4 tracks, I Don't Like Money Anyways, Slow Down, and two other demos that have since gathered a good amount of dust. I might put them out on Youtube just as little demos for whoever wants to hear. They are full blown 60s pop. One is called I got you babe, and the other is It Must Be Nice. They almost made the album but as time went on the idea of the album rejected them. WIth Slow down, I think you can definitely hear the resemblance to the previous albums style. We finally have an official live lineup with some of my close friends, and I really wanted to introduce them to my friends on the tube. The video wasn't planned at all. Really, the idea was to just for all of us to go to a desolate beach and film us being goofy and somehow piece it together. We all woke up at 6am severely hungover from our friends Liza Attics set at the kava bar in Jax Beach. We all drove 50 min north of Jacksonville to a really nice park called Big Talbot. Hauled all of our gear for a mile until we finally got to their insanely cool beach. Im not a big planner, I just like spontaneous things because I believe thats where the magic really truly is. Once we arrived the ideas started flowing like water. Ryan our lead synth player suggested a goofy flute solo, along with Zach wearing a freaking oven mitten while “totally“ playing. It was loads of fun, I want to literally make a music video with all of my fans doing the same thing one day. Just everyone show up and get nuts haha. Also! Dont fly a $20 drone with beach wind haha.
