#VisitRussia 🇷🇺 Yaroslavl is the administrative center of Yaroslavl Oblast, and it was the very first Russian city on the Volga, founded in Old Rus. For many centuries, it flourished as one of the country’s richest settlements, and even today it has not lost its noble luster. ️ Yaroslavl is the largest city on the “Golden Ring,“ which is one of the most popular tourist routes in Russia. It was founded in 1010 by Prince Yaroslav the Wise and is the second oldest city on the “Golden Ring“ after Rostov Veliky. Yaroslavl contains a large number of churches and several monasteries. The main city landmarks include the Spassky (St. Saviour) Monastery, Chapel of Our Lady of Kazan, Monument of Yaroslav the Wise, the Church of Elijah the Prophet, the Church of the Epiphany, the Uspensky Cathedral, Strelka Park, as well as the entire historic part of the city, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
