Hamas delayed its onslaught on Israel until October 2023 in an effort to enlist Iran and Hezbollah, The New York Times reported. The New York Times report cited minutes from secret Hamas meetings that Israeli forces allegedly found in Gaza. Hamas had initially planned to carry out the attack, which it code-named “the big project,” in the fall of 2022, The Times reported. However, the plan was delayed as Hamas Chief Yahya Sinwar wanted to persuade allies, Iran and Hezbollah, to join the assault or at least commit to a broader fight with Israel. The documents also show Hamas’ extensive efforts to deceive Israel as the group laid the groundwork for a bold assault that Sinwar hoped would “collapse” Israel. #middleeast #israel #iran #hamas #gaza #usa #palestine Video: AP/AFP/Reuters n18oc_world n18oc_crux CRUX is your daily video news guide to the big events that are shaping our world.
