Mentioned in the non-canonical Old Testament Third Book of Ezra, where he, together with the Archangel Uriel, came to the prophet and answered his questions about the end of the world: Didn’t the souls of the righteous ask about the same thing in their seclusion, saying: “How long will we hope in this way? And when is the fruit of our retribution? To this Jeremiel the Archangel answered me: “When the number of the seeds in you is fulfilled, for the Most High has weighed this age in scales, and measured the times with a measure, and numbered the hours by number, and will not move or speed up until the certain measure is fulfilled” ( 3Ez 4:35-37). Traditionally, the Archangel Jeremiel is depicted on icons holding scales in his right hand[1]. The Archangel of God not only reveals the gloomy prospect of a sinful world, but also helps to see the holy seeds of eternal life in the world[1]. The apocryphal Book of Enoch, translated by R.H. Charles, mentions the archangel Remiel, whom God placed over those who are resurrected[2].
