Swords of the Renaissance is an fencing event in Potsdam dedicated to the fighting systems of this period. The lectures are pretty short (30min) and should be an introduction into one specific topic. Further discussions and free play are highly encouraged. „If you were waiting for the opportune moment... that was it - The 5 tempi to attack of Giovanni dall'Agocchie“ This workshop focuses on opportunities (tempi or singular tempo) to attack safely in sword fighting. While dall'Agocchie teaches sidesword (& dagger or cape), this applies to most weapons of HEMA like longsword, rapier, arming sword etc. Martin has been training in the Berliner Rittergilde since 2008 and has been responsible for coaching sword fighting for shows and reenactment since more than 10 years. In 2015 he was hooked for historical fencing due to a course in classic saber fencing and Roland Warzecha's videos (Dimicator). From then on he trained with sword and buckler according to the Walpurgis fencing book. In 2017 he broadened his horizon including the writings of the Bolognese masters around Antonio Manciolino and Achille Marozzo. In the same year he founded the group Schildwache Potsdam, a cooperation between the Berliner Rittergilde and the University Sports of Potsdam, which has dedicated itself to historical fencing. For 2020 Martin was appointed to the first longsword national squad of the DDHF (german HEMA umbrella organisation). 00:00 Introduction - dall'Agocchie's manual & tempo 02:37 First tempo - after parrying 04:35 Second tempo - blow passes body 06:00 Third tempo - sword hand rises 08:24 Fourth tempo - injudicious movement 09:26 Fifth tempo - front foot rises 11:47 Concluding thoughts #hema #fencing #sidesword
