As I meandered around nine large video screens, I experienced Ragnar Kjartansson's “The Visitors” as a series of overlapping sounds and images, a shifting musical collage. This montage pays tribute to the consummate artistry of these talented musicians in weaving nine distinctive sounds into a mesmerizing musical tapestry. Recorded live in an active museum setting, the video takes on an inevitable ad-hoc quality, with random “visitors“ contributing to the imagery. But I'm pleased with the audio. The layering of three synchronized audio tracks adds an interesting depth to the sound. It's my hope to upgrade the video with better footage over time, perhaps with the help of other visitors to this extraordinary exhibit.
