This is the last Imperial Brand of Automobile. The 1974 Imperial was styled by Elwood Engel's Design Studio at Chrysler with Chet Limbaugh the Senior Stylist in charge. Since 1955, Imperial was a separate brand of Automobile sold by Imperial Dealers which were in some case combined with Chrysler Plymouth Dealers or Chrysler Dodge Dealers. A worthy competator of Cadillac and Lincoln, it's sales had dwindled over the years and by 1975, The Imperial would be eliminated. The badge would change and it would become the Chrysler New Yorker and then it's sales would take off! Chrysler Corporation did re-introduced the Imperial as a Brand again in 1981 but it was short lived. The 81 Imperial was sold by only 250 Imperial Dealers across the USA. Finally, in the early 90's, the Imperial was again on a Chrysler Product but this time, only as a model name under the Chrysler Badge. Richard Basehart provides the voice over for the spot and Steve Karmen's “Moments“ is the back ground music.
