Dugin versus Zizek: Strange Bedfellows What would it mean to interpret Zizek via Dugin, and vice versa? The two thinkers are widely understood purely in terms of their political differences. Zizek appears to be on the 'left' whereas Dugin is associated with the right. However, with Zizek's recent pro-imperialist stance, which makes absolutely clear that his 'leftism' goes no farther than the institutions of European social democracy, the view that Zizek is closer to the Marxist-Leninist tradition must be rejected. Both thinkers, however politically 'problematic' proved useful insights for Western Marxist-Leninists, and historically ground themselves in the broad populist momentums of the 2010s. Here, their thinking is compared and contrasted, and I make the case for how a fusion of their insights may be useful in resolving potential limitations in each of their respective projects.
