As part of our Potato Tour across Russia, we proudly present the second stop – the agrofirm “Slava Kartofelyu.“ Located in the village of Komsomolskoye in the Chuvash Republic, this agrofirm is one of the leading producers of seed and table potatoes, known for its innovative methods and high-quality products. Agrofirm “Slava Kartofelyu“ was established in the spring of 2001 and has since achieved significant success. For its excellent product quality, the enterprise has been awarded the “Mark of Quality,“ and in 2008, the firm was recognized as the “Best Potato Producing Company of the Chuvash Republic.“ A key aspect of the agrofirm's work is testing over 20 potato varieties on its own experimental field, where the impact of various technological practices on yield and product quality is studied. Only those varieties that have shown their best qualities over several years are introduced into production. To ensure high quality standards, the agrofirm is equipped with the latest agricultural machinery and equipment for sorting and storing potatoes. Modern storage facilities with automated microclimate control allow the harvest to be preserved and quality products supplied year-round. The storage capacity is 25,000 tons. One of the new directions of the agrofirm's activities is the cultivation of minitubers and in vitro plants in tunnel greenhouses. In December 2017, a laboratory for potato plant cuttings was launched. For this project, an isolated land plot, remote from populated areas, was chosen to protect the plants from contamination. A separate set of machinery is used for the production of high-reproduction seeds. During the growing season, fields are periodically inspected by specialists from the Russian Agricultural Center, and after harvesting, the high-reproduction seeds are tested in an accredited laboratory. All products are accompanied by a quality certificate upon delivery.
