Göbekli Tepe is one of the most important archaeological sites in the world., located in Upper Mesopotamia in Turkey. At 12,000 years old, Gobekli Tepe predated humanity's oldest known civilizations. Its megalithic temples were cut from rock 7100 years earlier than the Egyptian pyramids and 6600 years older than Stonehenge in England. The standing stones display extraordinary artwork in the form of carved foxes, lions, bulls, scorpions, snakes, wild boars, vultures, insects, arachnids. A number of the T-shaped stones have depictions of what appear to be arms at their sides, which could indicate that the stones represent stylized humans or perhaps gods.
