Caucasian shepherd dog or better known Caucasian ovcharka is a guardian dog and one of the most famous dog breed in the World . The standard Caucasian shepherd dog was created for the first time in URSS Red Star kennel . The Animals EXPERT made expedition in Caucasus and they selected from Caucasus aboriginal mountain shepherd dog. Caucasian shepherd has 2 major type 1 long hair know as Highlander ecotype and one short hair or better known as steppe watchdog . The Highlander ecotype was use to create standard of Caucasian ovcharka as a army dog not anymore like livestock guardian dog. To isolate old instincts from Shepherd Red star kennel use other breeds like st bernard or German shepherd and the F1 were cross with Caucasian shepherd dog to keep shepherd structure and the benefits from sources dog ( aboriginal) Caucasian shepherd from Aboriginal they created standard Red star line and after the end of Soviet Union mediocre breeders take these dog and changed more by selecting wrong body structure . They increase the size of dogs , From 65 kg they weigh now 100-120 kg without change the height of dogs . Red star kennel is still working dog maybe not the best for livestock but they have skills in guardian .
