0:00 - I. Allegro assai 2:25 - II. Adagio 4:38 - III. Presto This is a piece that many only know through J. S. Bach's transcriptions for organ (BWV 592) and harpsichord (BWV 592a). Prince Johann Ernst of Saxe-Weimar was a German prince who is a son of Duke Johann Ernst III. Despite the prince's early death at the age of 18, Bach has arranged at least four more works by him. At the time of his death, Bach was already the Konzertmeister at the ducal court. SOURCES: At least two sets of manuscript parts exist for the piece; however, I have access to only one of them, located at the Herzogin Anna Amalia Bibliothek (the callsign of the manuscript is subtitled in the score). This has severely limited my ability to make this into a decent edition, and thus I have resolved to put that goal aside. ABOUT THE SCORE: It would be an overstatement to call the score in the video an “edition,“ as it clearly is not. I have refrained from much editing or researching with regards to
