00:00 - Toccata 04:24 - Fugue Welcome back on my channel! I'm thrilled to share Johann Ludwig Krebs' Toccata and Fugue in A minor Krebs-WV 411. This piece showcases Krebs' genius with an exciting blend of old and new styles. It’s so good, it might just make your Krebs leap for joy! Johann Ludwig Krebs was born in Buttelstedt in 1713 and became the favorite pupil of Johann Sebastian Bach at the Thomasschule in Leipzig. He later worked in Zwickau, Zeitz, and at the court of Prince Friedrich of Gotha-Altenburg, where he remained until his death. Known primarily for his organ works, Krebs' close ties with Bach are evident in his compositions. The Toccata and Fugue in A minor is notably influenced by Bach, with the Toccata taking thematic material from Bach's Toccata in F (BWV 540) and the Fugue based on his Fugue in E minor (BWV 548,2). In my opinion, this piece truly stands out for its constant intrigue. It showcases Krebs' genius and is undoubtedly one of his greatest works for the organ. I hope you enjoy this rendition! If you do, please give it a thumbs up, comment your thoughts, and subscribe for more classical music content. Make sure to share this video with your friends.
