More info here: and here: These lines were written by Thomas Koppel only days before his sudden death: Most of this music is improvisations. Somewhere in the South Harbor of Copenhagen I played, and found new musical locations deep inside, an untold story that wanted to be told. It is a loving embrace of all those who illuminated my life, whether at a big summer concert under the stars or a war-torn refugee camp; in a legendary concert hall or the human devastation of a prison; an intoxicating tropical jungle or with loving, generous ghetto people in the darkest of streets. This music took me deep down to my earliest childhood when my favorite occupation (besides rollerskates, of course) was improvising on the piano. Now I am a grown man with the heart full of a lifetime of happy and painful experiences. In the excitement and joy of improvising man and child are one. I dedicate this music to all the people I love; our little grandson and those that may arrive here some day, our four children, families and friends, our companions in the struggle for life and justice; our wonderful musical partners; you, the audience with whom we have experienced half a century of love and excitement; and all the beautiful people sharing this planet trying to struggle their way through the unspeakable hardship some people's greed is imposing on them. May freedom and happiness reach them all soon. My last dedication will be to my love, my partner in life and music: Annisette: To you, my love, I'll dedicate my song. Woman, who belongs to all peoples, Speaks all languages, Speaks Love, Speaks the unborn children's unstoppable heartbeats, Who touches me, still sleeping, In the earliest hours of the dawn, My universal woman.
