Since first appearing on the progressive house scene in 2018 the Australian artist has been touted as one of the genre’s most promising new talents. The Melbourne resident has amassed an impressive portfolio over the last 12 months with releases on Dopamine Music, Juicebox Music, Sound Avenue and Timeless Moment being the most notable. Now landing on one of Canada’s finest progressive imprints Eric presents his latest single alongside remixes from Rafa’EL and Nosh & SJ. Quite apt at crafting emotive compositions, Eric drops another impassioned creation with ‘Water Lily’. Playful and unabashedly epic at points it’s a production that excels because of it’s fearlessness. As the narrative builds, metallic melodies move through waves of tasteful modulation, adding just the right quirky vibe to offset it’s boisterous charm, while a meticulously detailed framework keeps the storyboard firmly on the dance floor. Strange Town is noted for their astute remixer choices and we have two more excellent selections here in Rafa’EL and Nosh & SJ. First up is Polish artist Rafa’EL who makes great use of the main themes in a more traditional progressive framework. The nasally bass stabs are a lovely touch, adding character and contrast to the gorgeous surroundings, while a beefier percussive complement delivers copious amount of momentum and drive. The release concludes with one of India’s finest production duos Nosh & SJ. The Mumbai residents are fresh off a release for Ziger’s new Eat My Hat imprint while also laying claim to key outings for Astrowave, Balkan Connection and Dopamine Music. Now making their Strange Town debut, Nosh & SJ take ‘Water Lily’ into groovy territory with great results. Unlike it’s predecessors the emphasis is taken off the melodic elements and shifted into more of rhythmic narrative. Clean, powerful and momentous, it’s robust groove is what ultimately shines here, perfectly dialled for the dance floor and with a break to bring just enough emotion and intrigue to keep your senses on high. A great remix from Nosh & SJ which rounds out an appropriately summery sounding release for Strange Town Recordings. Highly recommended.
