On Nov. 30, 1945, a hearing was held in the Palace of Justice in Nuremberg regarding the question of Rudolf Hess' ability to continue in the trial. His counsel argued that Hess was incapable of understanding the charges. Chief American prosecutor Robert H. Jackson argued to the contrary.
