Gabon’s constitutional court Monday swore in Gen. Brice Oligui Nguema, the leader of the military coup that ousted President Ali Bongo, as the interim president. Prior to his inauguration, Nguema told the Central African nation that the military government would respect democratic values and assured that the junta would proceed “quickly but surely” with cautions of too much hast potentially leading to elections that lack credibility.
