The Penguins were on a roll in the 1st period, with 20 shots on goal. That mark is the most shots on goal Pittsburgh has achieved in any 1st period so far this year. Evan Rodrigues scored the first goal of the game, giving the Penguins an early lead. Later in the opening period, Kris Letang scored, giving the Penguins a 2-goal lead. In the 2nd period, the Penguins were off to a bit of a sluggish start, despite the barrage of pucks they threw at the Sabres’ net in the 1st. Nearing the end of the period, Marino blasted home his second goal of the season. Just two minutes later, Zach Aston-Reese scored a short-handed goal with a beautiful assist from Frederick Gaudreau, putting the Penguins ahead of the Sabres by 3 going into the 3rd period. To start off the final period, Crosby scored a goal, assisted by Guentzel and Matheson. The Penguins were able to keep the lead through the end of regulation thanks to Tristan Jarry, who made a total of 26 saves on 28 shots. SUBSCRIBE to be among the first to see new
