The 2014 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series featured a revamped playoff system known as the Chase for the Sprint Cup, which was introduced to add more excitement and drama to the championship battle. The format was changed to a knockout-style system, dividing the 10-race Chase into four elimination rounds. The 16 drivers with the most regular-season points and at least one win qualified for the Chase. As the playoffs progressed, four drivers were eliminated after each round, leading to a final Championship 4 competing for the title in the season finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway. In 2014, the Championship 4 consisted of Kevin Harvick, Denny Hamlin, Joey Logano, and Ryan Newman. Kevin Harvick ultimately won the championship after a thrilling race at Homestead, securing the title in his first season with Stewart-Haas Racing. Credit to NBC ESPN FOX NASCAR
