This time, I show how to make a DIY curved concrete bench (or coffee table). Since we were using GFRC concrete, we made the bench insanely thin – we definitely pushed limits on this project. Stay tuned to the end of the video to see if it holds the weight of two adults! This project was a collaboration with Chris Salomone from Four Eyes Furniture, and we also made a Lego Concrete River Table, in addition to this bench / coffee table. We made the sides of the form for the bench from melamine, and the base from bendy ply and vinyl siding. The bendy ply was supported from below by cross brace pieces cut from scrap plywood and melamine. The form making techniques shown in the video could be adapted for many types of tables, benches, or other types of DIY concrete furniture. The grey concrete color was achieved by using Fishstone's naturally white glass fiber reinforced concrete (GFRC) concrete mix, and adding a powdered charcoal concrete pigment to the mix.
