Harrogate College, Yorkshire. Intertitle reads: “The Charleston, Black Bottom, and other movements of Modern Jazz, have not altogether killed the grace of the country dance.“ Various country dances are performed by firstly a large group of women in white and pale dresses, then by a group of couples. The shots of the women dancers are taken from a high angle to give an impression of the patterns being made. One intertitle reads: “Growing in this land of ours is a wide movement to bring back to English Girlhood the grace of the old-time dances.“ and another: “Show us your Charleston - Heebee Jeebees (or whatever name Jazz is adopting for the nonce) to compare with these healthy, graceful country dances -' say the leaders of the movement.“ Killjoys!
