Russian Foreign Minister arrives in New York to attend 79th UN General Assembly Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has arrived in New York to take part in the 79th annual session of the UN General Assembly as head of the Russian delegation, a Sputnik correspondent reported on Wednesday. Lavrov will participate in a range of multilateral consultations including the UN Security Council on the situation in the Middle East, BRICS and G20 ministerial meetings and a meeting of the Group of Friends in Defense of the Charter of the United Nations. Russian Deputy Envoy to the United Nations Dmitry Polyanskiy told Sputnik that the minister is also expected to hold a lot of bilateral meetings. During the UNGA high-level week, the Russian delegation will promote the topics of multilateralism and international law. Lavrov will address the General Assembly on Saturday.
