Going to use my feet today Don’t know who I’ll meet today Going to keep the beat today Going to use my feet today Going to use my eyes today Look out for the lies today Try to be wise today Going to use my eyes today Going to use my ears today Going to have no fears today Never mind the tears today Going to use my ears today Going to use my mind today Leave bad things behind today See what I can find today Going to use my mind today Going to use what I’ve got today How and where and what today Going to use the lot today Going to use what I’ve got today. You can browse and buy Michael Rosen Books here: Following the publication of bestselling Mustard, Custard, Grumble Belly and Gravy, Michael Rosen has followed up with a brilliant new book of poems that are funny, thought-provoking and always with Michael's immediately accessible and child-centred voice. The poems included are a mix of classic favourites and also many brand new poems. ---- REVIEW I bought this book for about £5 off of a website and didn't know what to expect when it arrived, all that I knew about Michael Rosen was his classic “We're going on a Bear Hunt“. It did not disappoint, this book is fantastic. It contains over 80 poems of varying lengths and about topics ranging from Pizza to Bus Trips to a Plastic Bag tree. There are also several nursery rhymes and some tongue twisters, that will no doubt have you and your pupils laughing aloud - they certainly got me confused! Each poem has excellent illustrations by Babette Cole, which are imaginative and colourful and bring help to bring the words to life. This book contains many examples of different poetic devices including similes, metaphors, alliteration and assonance. If you were studying poetry with your class, this book would provide all that you need! But also importantly this book would make a great addition to any class/school library to be enjoyed by all, not just for studying. I am very much looking forward to using this book with my Year 1 class on next placement, but this is most definitely a book that can be enjoyed by all ages. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! Who is Michael Rosen? My first book for children was called Mind Your Own Business and it came out in 1974. Quentin Blake did wonderful line drawings for it. Ever since then, I’ve been doing these things: Writing books Writing articles for newspapers and magazines Going to schools, libraries and theatres and performing the poems in my books Helping children write poems and stories Making radio programmes, mostly about words, language or books Appearing on TV, either reading books, or talking about books Teaching at universities about children’s literature Running workshops for teachers about poetry In any week, I might be doing all of these things! To tell the truth, I don’t really know what I’m doing tomorrow, unless I look in my diary to see. #Michael Rosen #Kids #Poetry
