This is the last part of the short lecture on J.W. von Goethe´s “Outline of a Theory of Colours“. This part deals with the psychological and aesthetical aspects of colour vision. Quotations are from the English translation by Charles Lock Eastlake, from 1840. Hand-painted illustrations are from the Swedish edition of “Goethes Färglära“ 1976. More on Goethe´s colour theory and its relation to Newton´s theory of light and colour can be found on I also strongly recommend the film on Goethes approach to colour, “Lyset, morket og farvene“, made by my Danish friends and released in 1998.
