The album 'Native America Chants' and this recording was inspired by the story of Archie Belaney - born in Hastings, East Sussex, England in 1888 - a true 'local hero'. At the age of 18 he travelled to Canada to realise his dream of living as a Native American in the great wilderness and spent many years living with the Ojibway tribe learning their language and customs. By the 1930s he had become a successful international writer under the adopted name of 'Grey Owl', helping to raise awareness of the environment and the need of conservation with his lectures tours of England, Canada and the . When he died in 1938 his origins were he made public and for many years his name was discredited by the media, overshadowing his message which is only now gaining the respect it deserves.
