It represents unrelenting yearning for the essence of all life - desiring to be completely united like a flame on a candle yearns to be released from its existence here and to become lost in its source. The author was known to roll on the floor during prayer, saying “I don't want anything, I don't want your Gan Eden (Garden of Eden - a place of reward and delight in G-dly light), all I want is you yourself“. In more day to day words, its like striving to be connected to someone not because they make you happy, and not even because you fulfill them, but a desire to be connected and close beyond all joy, pleasure, reason, or boundary. This melody pulls us out of our regular material lives which we're used to dealing with each day, and awakens the innate drive, inner sensitivity to a reality far beyond the physical, a reality that we feel deep down inside within our souls.
