“Low-income Californians and communities of color are essentially going to be disproportionately impacted. This is because they really rely on these programs, be it in food, housing, or education. More than 200 programs will be impacted in one way or another,“ says. Siyamak sits down with Travis Gillmore, California reporter for the Epoch Times. He'll tell us the details of California's budget deficit and the spending cuts that the state is making to address it. “Depending on who you ask, in 2024 we dealt with somewhere between a $50 to a $73 billion deficit. The legislature is essentially looking to balance these reductions by putting forth bond measures. What we're essentially doing is borrowing from the future with these changes, which will put further pressure on later budget years, later fiscal years,“ Mr. Gillmore says. 0:00 Intro 0:41 CA Confronts $73B Budget Shortfall 1:35 Cuts, Delays, and Borrowing to Address Deficit 3:23 Budget Cuts Threaten Critical Programs 7:57 CA Education Budget Faces Uncertain Future 9:55 Climate Funding Slashed 11:37 Proposed Bond Measures to Address Cuts 13:36 CA Budget Woes Tied to Stock Market 18:21 Tax Increases on Businesses to Raise Revenue 23:48 How CA Decides on Budget Cuts 25:12 Ongoing Budget Deficits Expected *Views expressed in this video/article are opinions of the author and do not necessarily reflect the views of California Insider. #californianews #budget2024 #budgetdeficit #budgetcuts #californiainsider #sacramento #taxes -------------------- 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸 Watch our Documentary “Leaving California“ at -------------------- 🟡 Sign up for our newsletter: 💟 Support us:
