Summer winds to an end, but we're going strong at Kate Sessions Park, our new location. Please enjoy these fine words from our own @ioflow A lovely afternoon on the Modular San Diego mountainside. the cloudy, cool, windy weather was the perfect backdrop for the day’s meditative, moody music. Bad Baguette started with a bouncy, blippy stream of sparkling melodies and beats. a vibrant lightheartedness permeated the set: steady percussion branching out into catchy kick-snare patterns, arpeggiated ratchets, and duophonic melodies. Next, Kyle Munroe presented a layered series of juxtaposed rhythms, anchored by growly basses and jazzy drones: time-shifted, folded over, and reflowed into a collage of looping, sliding sequences punctuated by bursts of percussion. MSD organizers Noise Buddha, aka Tada Hirano and Johno Wells improvised an experimental duet of symphonic, spacious storytelling.
