Xerxes the flame point siamese & Floofala the Snow Glow Red Fox Caturday #saveafoxfacts Did you know ❓❗ that it’s a common misconception that foxes are a predator to cats? In captivity they can get along, much like dogs and cats do. It varies with each individual animal. When speaking of wild foxes, there is typically a very small risk that a fox will prey on a cat. The average domestic cat is usually 10-15 pounds while the average wild fox is only 7-15 pounds! Foxes are longer and lankier, but it’s just typically not worth the fight for a fox to try to take on a cat unless they feel it’s totally necessary. Caution should still be exercised. Kitties should never be outside unattended by their owners, espeacially if there is wildlife in the area. Foxes will scavenge cats if found, and they will defend their young from cats if they feel threatened, and in desperate circumstances with limited resources may be bolder. But typically a fox is not a direct threat to your pets.
