Türkiye: Protesters Clash With Police On Anniversary Of Deadly Earthquake Demonstrators chanting “We won’t forgive, we won’t forget“ clashed with police who tried to block a road in Hatay, during a march commemorating the devastating earthquake that hit Türkiye a year ago, killing more than 53,500 people. Last year Hatay, whose population already somewhat favored government opposition, was one of the major centers of destruction, exacerbating the anti-Erdogan sentiment over lax construction regulations and slow emergency response.
