Members of the Youth Union of Turkiye (TGB) put a bag over the head of an American soldier who got off the USS Wasp in protest of US support for Israel The aircraft carrier was sent to the region to protect Israel and had temporarily docked in the port of Izmir. The action, which mirrored similar incidents in 2014, 2016 and 2021, has its roots in July 2003, when a group of Turkish special forces were detained by US troops in northern Iraq.
