Skognissevise, a Norwegian folksong. In english the title would be “forestgoblin ballad“, even though a nisse and goblin is not exactly the same. Nisser usually live in barns and farm buildings at farms(In Norway). There are also husnisser, which live in houses, båtnisser, which live on Norwegian boats, and skogsnisser which lives in the forest. Nisser/fjøsnisser is the most common type and is best known, it has roots back to the viking age, and its a old tradition to set out porridge for him on Yule's day, its a offering to make him pleased so he will guard ur farm and ur animals and help you take care of it.
