Like us on Facebook! A rare treat in the rail preservation community is seeing two steam locomotives doubleheading a train. Organized by Carl Franz in cooperation with the Strasburg Railroad, we're given a taste of doubleheading, once a common practice in the bygone era of when steam was king with this special stealth photo charter. Fired up for today are Strasburg's two workhorse freight engines: ex-Norfolk & Western 4-8-0 “Mastodon“ #475, and ex-Great Western 2-10-0 “Decapod“ #90, two engines that would never have crossed paths in the steam era, but both prime examples of shortline freight hauling power. During the sessions, both engines have a chance at leading the doubleheader, as well as have their own individual runby sessions pulling the freight consist solo. Now, please enjoy this exciting video brought to you by Blue Comet Productions! This video was filmed on October 24t
