This is a video about the sixth “traditional“ kata of Tomiki Aikido (Koryu Dai Roku). It was formulated by Hideo Ohba sensei. Here is performed by Dr. Lee Ah Loi like Tori and Ken Broome, Steve Hogg and Gary Hogg like Uke(s). Koryu Dai Roku is the final Koryu Kata produced by Oba Sensei for practitioners of Tomiki Aikido. He was working on a seventh Kata when ill- health prevented him from continuing. This Koryu Kata directs students towards learning the basic principles of Tomiki Aikido through regular training. It is an advanced Kata based on the assumption that practitioners already know the various techniques as well as the requirements of Aikido such as smoothness, When these elements are observed during a slow performance it becomes very difficult for Tori and Uke who obviously do not perform floating breakfalls.
