For decades the United States and its allies have held Africa in a tightly clenched grip, exerting neo-colonial control over as much of the continent as possible, extracting wealth and resources while leaving the populace mostly impoverished. That’s beginning to change, however, as African countries are increasingly turning to China, Russia and the BRICS economic bloc for aid, investment and opportunity.
