Lama Zopa Rinpoche Explains the Benefits of the 8 Auspicious Signs in Buddhism

Lama Zopa finished the teaching by stating the benefits: “Wherever these eight auspicious signs exist, there will be the dependent arising of increasing the virtue of auspiciousness.“ It is for all of these reasons that the eight auspicious signs are displayed whenever a great teacher visits a temple or the Dalai Lama or any senior Lama visits a temple or gompa, it is tradition to present the eight auspicious signs to welcome them. Often these are painted on the floor at the entrance but roped off out of respect so that no one can step on them. Symbols are visual cues that trigger resonance at a deeper level than intellectual contemplation.
