Stratford, London - Controversy is brewing over the proposed construction of a massive spherical entertainment arena, nicknamed the ‘Stratford Sphere’, which has been likened to a 300ft-high ‘Crystal Ball’. The project, spearheaded by The Madison Square Garden Company, has been recommended for planning permission. The MSG Sphere London, as it is officially known, is set to be nearly identical to the MSG Sphere Las Vegas. However, the plans have sparked outrage among local residents and MPs in East London, as well as Transport for London (TfL), Network Rail, and Historic England. Critics argue that the 90-metre-tall auditorium/concert hall/nightclub would breach planning policy, take up valuable affordable housing space, steal trade from local businesses, and cause congestion at Stratford station. There are also concerns about the bright LED advertising screens that would cover the sphere, potentially dazzling locals and tube drivers. The sphere’s exterior is expected to be covered in glow
